This tropical giant boasts a straight trunk, reaching 1–2 meters in diameter, and its upper branches are adorned with large, leathery leaves forming a wide canopy.

The tree produces beautiful pale yellow or greenish flowers, leading to a round fruit about 15 cm in diameter. Within this fruit lies a hard shell protecting 18 to 24 angular seeds, commonly referred to as Brazil nuts.

The edible kernel, with its distinctive wrinkled appearance, is encased in a thin, woody shell. Brazil nut trees can tower at impressive heights of 25–56 meters, living for over 500 years.
